Shelvee Casey has a BA in early childhood education from Virginia Union University and worked in the Fairfax County Public School System for 4 years teaching Head Start preschool inclusion as well as 2nd grade. Ms. Casey has completed Master’s coursework in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Walden University. She was the special assistant working directly along side of the Founder and Executive Director of CASA (Court Appointed Special for Advocates) for children of Washington DC for 4 years. She then became the managing director of Kellie Williams Programs, a youth-directed project based arts organization. In 2007, Ms. Casey established a workforce development organization in Washington DC that operates in the summer months giving young people the skills, knowledge and training needed to enter the workforce. Ms. Casey has been a mentor for several youth over the past 18 years. She is currently the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit focusing on mental wellness and suicide prevention called Breathe.
