Esperanza Elementary, Los Angeles

Lucia Bella is 5 years old. Some call her an old soul. We call her AMAZING.

Lucia and her mom were discussing her upcoming entry into Kindergarten and exploring all of the “stuff” she will need for her backpack. Mom decided it was a good time to teach Lucia about other kids who don’t have everything they need to be successful in school.

And then this happened…

she campaigned, you donated

We told Lucia that if she could raise 100 backpacks, In a Perfect World would match that. Then something amazing happened… she raised enough money to score 300 backpacks full of school supplies to low-income children in Los Angeles.

So we threw a party…

Rather than hand out 300 backpacks, we invited kids at Esperanza Elementary school to join us for a day of fun! They shopped for their own backpacks and school supplies, did arts and crafts, and partied with Lucia and her IAPW team.

And Mayor Garcetti showed up to show his support!

and we created a ripple effect…

Since we bought all of the backpacks and supplies from YOOBI, thousands more school supplies were donated to other classrooms in need.

a great reminder…

Just because I’m little doesn’t mean I can’t do BIG things!

Thank you, Lucia, for the reminder that we can ALL have an impact! And thanks to all of you who supported her project.
